Occupational therapy addresses a person's ability to perform basic self-care activities and independent living skills at their highest level of independence. Our occupational therapists work with disabilities related to cognitive function, upper extremity function, physical dysfunction and psychosocial adjustment to their environment. Occupational therapy in outpatient clinic settings cover a variety of goals that include, but are not limited to:
- Self-care needs: eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming
- Balance issues: sitting balance, standing balance, core strengthening
- Cognitive skills: problem solving, memory, attention, judgment
- Independent living skills: cooking, cleaning, money management
- Upper extremity strengthening: range of motion, strength, sensation
- Sensory integration
- Fine motor skills: scissor skills, hand writing
